In 1991 the municipality Senta (north of Serbia) commenced with the construction of the wastewater treatment plant. The WWTP was designed for capacity of 70.000 P.E. Till 1998 operation building, intake pumping station, screen building, sand trap, aeration tanks and secondary sedimentation tanks were completed. After that the works were suspended due to the financial reasons. Thanks to the financial support from ADA (Austrian Development Agency) the works on WWTP could be resumed in 2004.

The goal was to rehabilitate and extend the WWTP in order to comply with relevant effluent standards in the long term.

• The WWTP was re-designed and constructed for capacity of 20.000 P.E.. The existing mechanical, electro and control equipment was repaired, new aeration tanks and sludge hopper constructed and new automatization of operation and labour equipment were provided.
• The operation personnel was trained for proper operation of the reconstructed WWTP.
