Water supply Daeni

Project description

The municipality Daeni in Romanian Danube delta possessed a desolate water treatment plant. The quantity and quality of the groundwater was not complying with the requirements. Several parts of the municipality have been supplied with water only once per two weeks for a few hours.

The goal of the project was to use the Danube water as a water source in order to provide the proper drinking water supply.

Solution
  • A water catchment from Danube river, raw water pumping station, 2,0 km long raw water transmission line, water treatment plant (50 m³/h), 3,0 km long treated water transmission line, new elevated water reservoir (300 m³), pressure increase plant,  as well as 3,8 km long water supply network including house connections were constructed within three project phases. Additionally an existing water reservoir has been rehabilitated.
  • Furthermore the municipality was supported within the costs collection strategy and the training for the operation staff was done as well.
