By a reason of unsatisfactory treatment and disposal of the wastewater in the area the municipality Merzenstein decided to construct a decentralised WWTP with proper wastewater disposal.

It was designed a new Wastewater treatment plant which consists of the following parts:

Sewer network: Length 2.000 m

WWTP: Capacity 180 P.E.

• Incoming wastewater accumulation tank (intake pumping station)
• SBR-Reactor
• Sludge storage tank
• Settling pond (reed planted sludge drying basin)
• 3 treatment stages (planted soil filter)

The control of the wastewater treatment plant is ensured by SPS.
